Sell More Than Your Time – Productize!

Sell More Than Your Time - Productize! https://alisameredith.com/productize-your-service/

This is something we’ve been talking about in my mastermind group. How to expand your business within the limits of our available time.  We’ve all been in the business long enough that we know commoditizing doesn’t work (“well, how much will it be if you just do 10 Tweets a week instead of 100?”) for us or for our clients.

We’re tired of the feast or famine lifestyle that comes with project work. But, not all of us are sure we want to create a huge agency with many employees, which will likely mean we end up managing employee humans and selling to customer humans instead of doing what we love.

Maybe you’ve been here, too. Perhaps you looked at the most recent “must-have” technology or gadget and thought, “Oh, if only I had come up with that!” Well, don’t bother trying to reinvent the iPad. You can come up with your own thing, and it will be good and people will buy it.

This is something I’ve done with limited success. Scalable Social Media started up with a productized service – blogging, websites and social media for Home Instead Senior Care franchisees. Everything is down to science and our community manager, Marissa, has it covered.  Then we started really getting in to Pinterest and created a Pinterest strategy/setup/maintenance product. I haven’t done a great job promoting that, but I plan to here.  (PS – if you’re interested in Pinterest help, hit me up on the contact form on the home page!)

Sound like something you’d like to do? Pat Flynn’s podcast episode #158 really got me inspired. Brian Casel was an amazing guest and provided a very helpful step-by-step to figuring out the right productized service for you. Find your value. Standardize it. Sell it. There’s more to it, so

I've been creating marketing strategies for years - for both B2C and B2B businesses, formerly as co-owner and chief strategist of a HubSpot partner agency, and since 2015 right here. I have a passion for businesses that make the world a better place in ways large and small, and the people who run those businesses are the ones I enjoy working with. I am slightly obsessed with Pinterest. Not just because it is fun, but because it works amazingly well for traffic and lead generation.
